Barkleigh Productions, Inc. has been an explosive force
in the professional petcare industry since 1979.
This privately-owned organization is located in the beautiful
Central Pennsylvania town of Mechanicsburg.
Barkleigh Productions' President, Sally Liddick, was a groomer, and a daughter of a groomer. Seeing a need for education of her clients, she developed the GroomOgram... a newsletter for grooming clients. Then came more grooming client cards. A newsletter for the grooming industry developed, called Groomer to Groomer, which has grown into the nation's industry magazine, that groomers all over the nation rely on for news, events and advertising. Eventually, quality seminars and trade shows emerged from the organization.
Groom Expo, the biggest Educational Seminar and Trade Show for the Petcare Professional in the world, is held yearly in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It is Barkleigh's flagship show. Groom Expo drew 170 exhibitors and 4500 attendees last year. Eight educational seminars are in progress at all times during the weekend. Included is an IJA sanctioned grooming contest, Barkleigh Creative Styling Contest and much more.
Groom & Kennel Expo, its sister program on the West Coast, in Pasadena CA, boasts an attendance of over 2600 with 100 exhibitors and numerous educational programs and contests.
Barkleigh plans yearly regional shows in the Cincinnati OH, Tacoma WA, and Phoenix AZ areas, featuring top national speakers and grooming competitions.
In 2000, Off-Lead & Animal Behavior, the national dog training magazine, was acquired. Off Lead has garnered the 2000 and 2001 Best Special Interest Magazine title from The Dog's Writers Association of America, under Barkleigh ownership.
Barkleigh has since brought the following magazines to the marketplace: Pet Boutique & Spa, Mobile Groomer, Canadian Groomer, Off Lead & Animal Behavior and Pet Boarding & Daycare.
