Basic First Aid for Senior Dogs

Donna Owens

One thing we never want to do as groomers is to injure a senior pet. What works for younger dogs, can send the older pet home limping and in pain for days. Prevention is the key. "There are breeds that have a greater chance of developing certain aches, pains, and even severe problems as they age," says Donna. "This seminar will provide an in-depth look at breeds that are more prone to physical ailments as seniors and how to care for them." Donna will show you how to care for these dogs and will discuss preventive measures to keep things at bay. Learn handling techniques that will make first aid easier on the dog and simpler for you. This is a great addition to any of the first aid classes you have already attended.

Mixed Breed Extreme Makeover

Kendra Otto

"I don't want to know what mixed breed I am going to groom until it arrives!" states Kendra, "I will examine the dog's structure and decide what clip will best suit the pooch. Watch me as I transform the shaggy pooch into a completely different dog. These skills will be great for any of those clients that give you the 'creative go ahead' to groom the dog how you want, and it will help you better your suggestions to the client. Don't forget your camera!"

Great Grooming on Drop Coated Breeds

Jay Scruggs

We see more drop coats in our shop than almost any other coat type. Each drop coat has a different texture. No more using scissors on a drop coat. In this demonstration Jay will show how to get a more natural look by using snap on combs and thinning shears. Whether you groom Lhasas, Maltese, Yorkies or Shih-Tzus this demo will help you achieve better results with the use of new tools and the right pair of thinners. Jay will discuss how thinning shears help a groomer as a key part of our tool box. He will discuss what type of thinning shear to use on what coat type. This pet trim will be short yet stylish, while still leaving a natural finish.
